This is the first nice photo I took with my new camera (a Sony A77). Most of the first few photos were of objects within 10 feet of the couch! So they were not exactly interesting, but made for good initial tests. So far so good.
I’ve loved using my Sony A200, but it’s five years old now, and things have moved on a lot in the photography world and my world. I’m now often asked to go out and take photos for people for money (yes paid to take photos!). Also, I am getting more and more requests for licensing of my photos for various publications around the world. Now the fun begins of getting to grips with a new camera, though I am finding the controls rather similar to my old Sony, so I have something of a head start in that respect.
I was very tempted to get a new lens for the camera, but that was just going to be too costly, so I am simply using my lenses from my A200. The photo above was taken using my normal 18mm – 70mm lens and was set on ‘Macro’ mode. I’m pretty impressed with the detail on the leaves just above the pink flower. I have a larger lens that does beautiful macros, so I am looking forward to taking the new camera out with the big lens at some point soon. In the meantime, I have the job tonight, of taking some dusk type shots in the city (one of those photo commissions I am getting now). Fingers crossed it all goes smoothly.
