- I baked two different banana cakes using two different recipes and discovered which one people prefer the most. Turns out though they really like the traditional Edmonds Cookbook recipe cake I always make (with cream cheese icing and lemon shavings) they absolutely love a new recipe I’ve discovered online. This new recipe does not use baking soda and it has a really strong banana flavour and is very moist. It’s quite simply delicious. The new recipe is the Carnation UK recipe for Banoffi cup cakes, which I now use for a full cake.
- Caramel condensed milk and cream cheese make a delicious icing for a cake (but don’t expect to lose any weight eating it!).
- After a big storm here, I discovered that Blue Gum trees have very shallow roots (we had lots of trees fall down all over the city and many of them were blue gums)
- I learned that new blossom flowers will not be blown away so easily as older blossom flowers – in fact the new ones will stay on even in gale force winds that can uproot large trees
- That I struggle to remember what I’ve learned over the week, and need to start writing it all down..
