I have a daily ritual of taking a lunchtime walk. I started doing it for the exercise, but now I mostly do it for the break away from the computer. I don’t usually take a camera on my walk, but today for some reason I decided to take my camera with me. It’s amazing what you can find to photograph if you know how to be present and observe your environment. I find many people have forgotten how to do this. Yet, the beauty of the natural world is all around us – even in a busy city, we just need to stop for a moment and really look.
And if you look up, you might just see a perfectly formed and now disused bird’s nest.
Or perhaps you might see a bird upon a fence, deciding what to do next.
And if you look down amongst the weeds, you might just see dainty pink wild flowers growing along the verge.
And on a hot day if you look into a tree you may just see beautiful shafts of light and glowing leaves.
And if you notice something fluttering by, why you might just get to glance upon a butterfly.
If you hear some buzzing, stop and find the source, it’s hopefully the helpful honey bee who needs a little help right now.
And so on your next walk, I encourage you to stop and take the time to literally smell the roses or the Daphne!
