Some highlights from my garden

Updates in late September. The goal is to get the back garden planted in wildflowers and sunflowers and a section planted in corn. The more formal garden will have roses, tulips and other cottage garden mixes.

This strip of garden is starting to come together. It’s been a bit of a mission. The roses were planted last spring and they didn’t do very well. I’m hoping that with now a full year of being in place, they will perform better. I’ve added bark to the garden to help with this. The roses have also been pruned (in August) and also sprayed with the Yates Rose Gun mix. I spotted some black spot late last week, so did another spray. I’ll keep that up every few weeks.

The old roses that were in place for many years have had a lot of attention as well, and they are looking much better.

I spent a lot of time last Wednesday working on the pink garden in front of the deck. The tulips didn’t do as well this year, so I added in some more bedding plants and the cute little mushroom fairy house.
